A sworn translator is a professional registered in the National Register of judicial experts and sworn translators, interpreters and translator-interpreters (RNEJ), maintained by the Federal Public Service Justice. To appear in this register, the translator has taken an oath before a Belgian Court of Appeal and committed to producing faithful and complete translations. Their signature and official stamp give the translation its legal value.

For the Italian-to-French or Italian-to-Dutch combination, only a translator registered in the RNEJ can produce a sworn translation recognised by Belgian administrations.
